Torchmark Corporation Declares Dividend And Announces Election Of 2 New Board Members

Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK) announced that its Board of Directors has raised the quarterly dividend to $.17 per share on all of the outstanding common stock of the Company held of record as of the close of business of the Company's transfer agent on April 5, 2013. The dividend will be paid on May 1, 2013.

Torchmark also announced that Marilyn A. Alexander, Principal of the consulting firm of Alexander and Friedman, LLC, and Wesley D. Protheroe, retired Chief Executive Officer of Gerber Life Insurance Company, were elected to its Board of Directors on February 27, 2013.

Ms. Alexander, a Certified Public Accountant, holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania. She has more than 32 years of experience in finance, marketing and strategic planning at top corporations including Disneyland Resort where she was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Walt Disney World Resort, Marriott Corporation and Towers Perrin as well as in her own consultancy practice.

Mr. Protheroe holds an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University and a M.B.A. from Columbia University. He was named "Direct Marketer of the Year" in 2007 by the Direct Marketing Association, and brings extensive experience in brand positioning and development, marketing strategy, direct marketing and product innovation to the Board from a 34 year career at companies including Procter & Gamble, Sara Lee, Pizza Hut, Great American Insurance Personal Lines Division and Gerber Life, a subsidiary of Nestle, SA.
